Queen welcomed with cultural and art performances at official dinner

KUCHING, March 29: Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah was treated to a cultural and art show that showcased the uniqueness and diversity of Sarawak at an official dinner held in the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex last night.

The Sarawak Premier’s wife Puan Sri Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Premier’s wife Datin Amar Doreen Mayang, Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Deputy Minister for Law, MA63 and State-Fedral Relations Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali were among the distinguished guests present.

Among the highlights of the night were the Keloyok dance, gambus and sape show, a creative ethinic dance encompassing the Kedayan, Tagal, Kiput, Bisaya and Lun Bawang tribes, folk songs, Dang Esah Tandang Sari musical theatre and Zapin Sebat dance.

The dinner wrapped up with a Nopeng performance to warmly welcome Her Majesty, according to a statement from the Information Department.

Upon arrival in Kuching for a two-day working visit yesterday (March 28), Her Majesty had officiated at the opening ceremony of the Songket and Keringkam Gallery in Jalan Masjid here.

Her Majesty’s itinerary today includes a visit to the Puncak Borneo Prison Complex at 10.30am before heading to the Borneo Cultures Museum at 4pm. — DayakDaily
