KUCHING, Nov 19: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Dato Sri Nancy Shukri has been away for 14 years, but she has finally returned home to reclaim her crown in P193 Santubong.
The ‘Puteri Santubong’ polled 38,681 votes against Mohamad Zen Peli of Pakatan Harapan (PH) — 5,058 votes, and Independent candidate Affendi Jeman — 3,012 votes in the 15th General Election (GE15).
The official results were announced by Election Commission’s Santubong returning officer Sofhi Jebal earlier tonight.
There are 79,540 eligible voters in the Santubong parliamentary constituency.
Nancy had served three terms in P200 Batang Sadong from 2018 until this year, before she switched to contest in Santubong this time.
Santubong is her hometown as she comes from Kampung Panglima Seman.
This followed former Santubong MP Dato Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar’s decision to not seek reelection in GE15 after helming the seat since 2004.
Under P193 Santubong, there are three State constituencies namely N3 Tanjong Datu, N4 Pantai Damai and N5 Demak Laut. — DayakDaily
