Public help leads to car owner coming forward over Jalan Oya pedestrian accident

SIBU, Aug 11: The owner of the car involved in an accident with a pedestrian on Jalan Oya, near SMK Saint Elizabeth, here, has come forward on Monday (Aug 10) to assist with the investigation.

In a statement, Sibu district police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad expressed his appreciation to members of the public who assisted in tracing the vehicle involved.

“Police also appreciate the cooperation and concern shown by the community, which are important in helping to facilitate the investigation process and enforcement of the law,” he said.

He said that the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The case first came to light on Aug 6 at 4.28pm, whereby preliminary investigations found that the accident occurred when a pedestrian was hit by a car at the location.

As a result of the incident, the victim sustained injuries and received follow-up treatment. — DayakDaily
