KUCHING, Feb 6: State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has approved praying activities at temples during Chinese New Year, but with strict standard operating procedures (SOPs).

This is in the latest guidelines released by the Ministry of Local Government and Housing yesterday (Feb 5).

For details on necessary SOPs during such activities, the public is advised to refer to the information by Unit for Other Religions (Unifor).

Meanwhile, other SOPs for the Chinese celebration remain the same.

Reunion dinners on Chinese New Year Eve (Feb 11) are only limited to close family members of not more than 20 people and visitings are only allowed on the first day (Feb 12).

Open houses, lion and dragon dances, bazaars and other forms of celebrations at public places are prohibited altogether.

Other than that, house owners are required to ensure they record visitors’ details including body temperature during house visits for contact tracing purposes. —DayakDaily
