KUCHING, Feb 24: PTTEP Malaysia has contributed over RM370,000 through the Malaysia Relief Agency (MRA) for education, environment, and the empowerment of students in East Malaysia.

In a statement today, PTTEP Malaysia said the contribution is extended through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme aimed to uplift and empower the lives of more than 500 students in Sarawak and Sabah.

In collaboration with the MRA, PTTEP Malaysia contributed RM376,000 and hosted several sustainable initiatives to benefit 17 schools located in Bintulu and Kuching in Sarawak; Papar, Beaufort, and Ranau in Sabah; and Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan.

According to the statement, the contribution made under MRA’s We Care Sarawak and We Care Sabah programmes demonstrated PTTEP’s commitment to three out of its four CSR pillars, namely Basic Needs, Education, and Environment.

It said that a significant portion of the contribution was channelled towards crucial school resources such as students’ back-to-school supplies, care kits, food supplies, and facilities, while the rest were directed toward initiatives of education, environment, and community empowerment in partnership with government agencies.

On the same note, PTTEP Head of Malaysia Sarawak Asset Denkey Thatchaichawalit said for the CSR engagement, they are working with more government agencies in Sarawak and Sabah, including the Papar District Health Department, Beaufort District Health Office and Bintulu as well as Tatau Fire and Rescue Stations.

“With their support and resources, we were able to go beyond traditional donations and provide environmental stewardship, fire prevention and emergency response, health talks, and career exploration initiatives,” he added. — DayakDaily
