KUCHING, May 23: Bintulu Division Sepak Takraw Association (PSTB) only recognises Malaysian Sepak Takraw Association (PSM) as the legal parent body for sepak takraw sports in the country.
Its president Latif Upit said due to this, PSTB decided to announce its exit from Sarawak Sepak Takraw Association (PSS) not long after the latter’s alleged personal-based departure from PSM on May 21.
“PSTB’s decision was made after we stated a clear stance to PSS that PSTB still recognises PSM as the legal parent body of sepak takraw until it is dissolved by the authorities of our country.
“PSTB has stated that if PSS leaves the PSM national coalition, then PSTB will also make a concurrent decision, that is to leave the state coalition and stand alone as a Divisional Association that is not in the state coalition such as Sarikei, Kapit and Serian divisions,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Apart from PSTB, Betong Division Sepak Takraw Association (PESTAB) had also announced its departure from PSS yesterday, stating that it wants no part of what it termed to a ‘personal drama’ between PSS and PSM. — DayakDaily
