Two lives lost in separate accidents in Mukah and Dalat

SIBU, March 2: Two persons were killed in separate accidents in Mukah and Dalat yesterday.

The first accident took place at KM53 of the Sibu-Bintulu Road at 11.09am when an Indonesian plantation worker was killed after he was hit by a lorry he had just started.

The victim, Hamsan Hamdani, 31, died from severe head injuries at the scene.


According to Dalat district police chief, Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Saga Chungat, the victim was attempting to start the vehicle when it suddenly surged forward and hit the workers’ quarters it was parked in front of.

The victim who was outside the truck at the time was struck by the door of the truck, leading to his injuries and subsequent death. His body was sent to Sibu Hospital for further action.

In the second incident in Mukah, a motorcyclist was killed after his ride collided with a car.

The victim died on the spot from head injuries.

Mukah District police chief, DSP Billy Panyau revealed that in the 8.30pm accident at KM13 of Jalan Mukah-Oya, the car driven by a 56-year-man was about to turn right when he heard a loud bang after the motorcycle ridden by the victim hit his car.

The victim was also travelling in the same direction.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987. — DayakDaily
