KUCHING, Aug 17: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Women’s Wing divisions in Batang Ai and Engkilili are reminded to buckle up in gearing for the coming state election.
According to its women chief Datuk Seri Doris Brodie, PRS Women’s Wing plays an important role in determining the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)’s success in the coming election because 50 per cent of the registered voters comprised of women.
“We are the king maker. We must also not rest on our laurels and never regard your opponents as piecemeal regardless of who they are,” she said when speaking at the “Berandau” session organised by the Education Bureau of PRS Women’s Wing held at Lubok Antu Sport Hall, today.
She also stressed that that GPS is a closely knitted alliance of four component parties, thus working together with each other is crucial to determine GPS’ success in all the constituencies.
Meanwhile, PRS treasurer general Datuk Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, who officiated the closing ceremony of the “Berandau” session, praised the initiative taken by PRS Central Women’s Wing and the Wing’s Education Bureau for organising the programme.
Mussen, who is also Assistant Minister of International Trade and Industry, believed that such an initiative is necessary to create awareness and consolidate women’s support on the ground.
At the same time, he also expressed his gratitude to the women (voters) of Lubok Antu, namely those from N.34 Batang Ai, for being his pillar of strength since he became the state assemblyman in 2008.
The “Berandau” session, which was attended by PRS Women members in Lubok Antu, also included a comprehensive sharing by the panel of speakers, namely Doris, Cr. Misiah Abdullah and Cr. Donna Petrus, especially involving the roles of women and women moving forward in politics.
The session was moderated by the chairlady of PRS Women Division of Batang Ai, and deputy Women chief of PRS Central Women’s Wing, Cr. Rosaline Neging. –DayakDaily.
