KUCHING, March 9: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum has called on the party’s women’s wing members not to shy away from showing their calibre, talents, and capability of doing things.
During a fundraising dinner last night (March 9) organised by the party’s women’s wing in conjunction with International Women’s Day, Salang also reminded women not to think of themselves as less important than men.
Salang opined that if women could make themselves visible and position themselves in society, they would likely be recognised.
“Therefore, if your (women) existence is acknowledged, then you could be called upon when opportunities arise.
“In other words, you must be inclusive among yourself. Therefore, first and foremost, you must try and groom people after you to make sure they are seen.
“In PRS, I can assure you that even when I leave the presidency, I will still be thinking and pushing for more women’s participation in all that we do,” he said.
Meanwhile, the party’s women’s wing chief, Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie, applauded the esprit de coup of her women’s party exco in making the event a success.
She hoped that the party would always include them in the party’s objectives so that they could contribute to making Sarawak and the nation a better place. — DayakDaily
