KUCHING, Dec 24: Travellers arriving from South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Malawi must undergo a 14-day quarantine at their first point of entry in Malaysia prior to entering Sarawak effective Dec 24, 2021.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said their Covid-19 rt-PCR swab tests will be taken on the first and 10th day.
“They will only be allowed to proceed to Sarawak after completion of 14 days quarantine and upon testing negative for Covid-19. If found positive, they will be isolated and referred to the Ministry of Health (MOH),” it said in a statement today.
For Malaysians coming from the above mentioned countries, they must present their Covid-19 vaccination certificate, flight itinerary, negative rt-PCR test result, identity card and passport and release order from MOH.
For non-Malaysians, they have to present their Covid-19 vaccination certificate, flight itinerary, negative rt-PCR test result, copy of passport, copy of work permit or visa, approved MY Travel Pass or entry pass and release order from MOH.
Meanwhile, travellers arriving from other countries must submit proof of negative rt-PCR Covid-19 test result with three-days validity prior to travel and will be subjected to a 7-day quarantine for those who are fully vaccinated and 10-day quarantine for those who have yet to complete or undergo vaccination.
They will be quarantined at designated centres at their first point of entry to Malaysia.
They will undergo rt-PCR tests on the 5th day (for 7-day quarantine) and 8th day (for 10-day quarantine) and will only be allowed to proceed to Sarawak after completion of quarantine and their result is found negative.
At the same time, all travellers under Singapore-Malaysia Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) will still be required to undergo quarantine at a designated quarantine centre upon arrival in Sarawak if arrive less than seven days to Malaysia.
Travellers arriving from overseas under the Langkawi travel bubble on the other hand, are required to take a rt-PCR test three days prior to entry to Sarawak and must have stayed in Langkawi for more than seven days before entering Sarawak.
It must also be noted that Covid-19 RTK antigen self test kit (saliva) is not accepted and the travellers must take a rt-PCR/RTK antigen test at a clinic or medical lab.
For Sarawakians and their spouse or family travelling from outside Malaysia and transiting in Peninsular Malaysia, they are still required to undergo mandatory quarantine at the first point of entry in Malaysia like other travellers.
