MIRI, Dec 18: Cloudy weather early today did not deter senior citizens from being among the first in line at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Dato Permaisuri and SK Jalan Bintang to vote.

Tan Kim Piaw, 78, and his wife, Sim King Ha, 72, appeared enthusiastic after casting their votes this morning at SK Jalan Bintang.

Seen arrived on wheelchairs at the polling centre in SK Jalan Bintang here this morning at around 7am, both Tan and Sim were accompanied by their 38-year-old son, Tan Kheng Chun.

Also casting his vote at SK Jalan Bintang was Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) candidate for N73 Piasau Datuk Sebastian Ting.

Ting cast his vote at 7.45am.

Ting is facing a five-corner fight against Teo Jia Jun (Parti Sarawak Bersatu), Hanim Jaraee (Aspirasi), Chung Siew Yen (Parti Bumi Kenyalang) and Peter Hee of DAP.

Yii is seen casting his vote at SMK Dato Permaisuri here.

Meanwhile in SMK Dato Permaisuri, SUPP’s candidate for N74 Pujut, Adam Yii, arrived at the polling centre at 7.51am to cast his vote.

Similar to Ting in Piasau, Yii is also facing a five-cornered fight against Bruce Chai (PSB), Leslie Ting (PBK), Chin Fen Siong (Aspirasi) and Alan Ling of DAP. — DayakDaily
