KUCHING, June 29: Private sector players in Sarawak allowed to operate during the Movement Control Order (MCO) must continue to maintain their workforce capacity on site remains at 30 per cent at any one time.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said the employers are responsible for determining the shift work in order to comply with these instruction.
“Employers must also ensure that their workers register their attendance through MySejahtera or manually, and are not allowed to eat in groups without social distancing during breaks in the premises.
“Meanwhile, symptomatic employees are not allowed to work and are required to undergo Covid-19 screening tests at nearby health clinics, while those identified as Person Under Surveillance (PUS) are prohibited from attending work until they complete their quarantine period and given the Release Order (RO) by the health authorities,” the Committee said.
SDMC also disclosed that public transport services such as stage bus, express bus, express boat, taxi/e-hailing, vehicles carrying workers such as buses/vans and other public transport are allowed to operate at a rate of 50 per cent passenger capacity.
However, operating hours and passenger capacity are also subject to a ruling by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) Sarawak.
“The number of people allowed in the vehicle carrying the essential goods and services as well the chain of economic/industrial activities depends on the commercial vehicle registration license.
“Drivers and employees of vehicles carrying essential goods and services as well as chain of economic/industry activities under the list of essential services are required to undergo rT-PCR swab tests every two weeks while those in Bintulu, Tatau and Sebauh districts are required to do it once in seven days.
“They must also obtain a police permit if it involves inter-district travel on a regular basis as well as practising social distancing and wearing face masks while being in the vehicles,” it pointed out.
For private vehicles, the capacity is limited to two persons only including the driver while private vehicles used for the purpose of obtaining health care, medical, safety or emergency services are allowed at three-person limit.
“On the other hand, the movement of the official government vehicles or vehicles belonging to certain posts are allowed according to the seating capacity of the vehicle,” it added.
At the same time, SDMC also stressed that face-to-face meeting in sectors other than in government for official matters are not allowed.
“Face-to-face gatherings such as corporate events, seminars, workshops, courses, training, conferences and talks as well as MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) are not allowed.
“However, the ongoing exempted in-service training is allowed to be implemented only within the area of the training institution,” it emphasised. — DayakDaily
