KUCHING, June 29: Official telecommunication (telco) services providers may open their service counters for maintenance, bill payments and top-up sales.

This means other shops offering retail and sales services are still not permitted to reopen for the next two weeks.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), only official telcos may open their service counters during the extended first phase of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) in Sarawak from June 29 to July 12.

At the same time, the repair and maintenance and data centres for telcos may operate full time without a time limit.

SDMC said telcos are categorised as essential services and are allowed to provide maintenance services full time without any time limit in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

As for call centres and general administration centres in Sarawak, they have to follow the terms of operation and the workforce capacity requirements as in in the SOP during their business hours. — DayakDaily
