KUCHING, May 8: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg welcomes Affin Group’s commitment to expanding its range of financial services and products in the State so that everyone, including low-income individuals and small business owners, can access cutting-edge financial solutions and services that suit their needs.
Abang Johari reiterated that the Sarawak government aims to double economic growth from RM146 billion in 2022 to RM282 billion in 2030.
“This goal can be realised if we have a complete state economic ecosystem to support planned economic development activities.
“Sarawak is always willing to collaborate with strategic partners for the benefit of all parties and the people,” the Premier stated in his speech, which was read by Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) Sarawak Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Abdul Karim represented Abang Johari to officiate at the Affin Group Raya Open House event, which took place today at a local hotel here.
“Initiatives – initiatives with financial institutions such as Affin Group are seen to increase financial inclusion efforts – ‘Finance for All’. This is to ensure that Sarawak has a more dynamic financial sector that can meet the economic needs of all levels of society.
“Affin Group is also seen to be highly committed to expanding its range of financial products and services, which includes Community Banking, Enterprise Banking, Corporate Banking, Treasury, and Investment Banking segments, in line with the State government’s efforts to boost the business and entrepreneurship sectors,” the Premier said.
He further expressed confidence that with a solid support system, the goal of achieving growth, peace, and prosperity for Sarawak can be realised.
“I am grateful for the support received and hope that it will be an important pillar to deal with the challenges by taking advantage of the available opportunities and Sarawak, continue to make many successes with a stronger economy,” Abang Johari remarked.
The event was attended by various dignitaries and officials, including Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister in the Premier of Sarawak’s Department (Law, MA63, and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Datu Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Affin Bank Berhad chairman Dato Agil Natt, and Affin Bank Berhad president and group chief executive officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah. — DayakDaily
