BINTULU, July 22: The final livery design of the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) vehicles, which will be a modern public transport system in Kuching, was unveiled at the Sarawak Day 2024 Celebration earlier tonight.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the ART that uses hydrogen will bring transformation to the public transport system in Sarawak, which will start in Kuching through the implementation of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project.

“At this moment, Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd is working diligently to provide dedicated lanes, stop stations and depots for the ART in Kuching and Kota Samarahan.

“And Insya-Allah, as I said earlier, it will be extended from Bintulu straight to Kidurong and Samalaju,” he said when delivering his speech at the celebration held at Old Bintulu Airport here.

The final design of the ART showed that it is incorporated in four colours—black, yellow, red, and white, almost similar to Sarawak’s flag.

He also mentioned that several designs were proposed by the Ministry of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) and Sarawak Metro, but only one was chosen to reflect Sarawak’s aspirations and prowess.

Currently, he said the ART vehicles are being produced in China.
