KUCHING, Oct 30: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to share Sarawak’s achievements and vision in the generation of renewable energy sources such as green hydrogen and solar generated by renewable hydropower at the 2023 World Hydropower Congress, which will be held in Bali from Oct 31 to Nov 2.
The Premier will give the keynote speech at the Congress at 2pm, which will also be attended by Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) reported.
According to the news outlet, Abang Johari and his entourage arrived in Bali safely this afternoon to attend the Congress at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre (BNDCC) tomorrow (Oct 31).
“He (The Premier) and his entourage arrived at the hotel here (hotel in Bali) at 6.45pm.”
Ukas stated that Abang Johari was accompanied by Utility and Telecommunications (MUT) Sarawak Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi, MUT Sarawak Deputy Minister Datuk Liwan Lagang, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain, Sarawak Energy Bhd (Sarawak Energy) group chief executive officer (CEO) Datu Sharbini Suhaili, and chief political secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
“In the evening, the Premier is scheduled to attend a briefing that will be delivered by Sharbini before attending the dinner.
“The next day, the Premier will hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the International Hydropower Association (IHA), who is also the former Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Tumbull, at 10am.
“Next, Abang Johari is scheduled to attend the ASEAN Dialogue Forum with Key Leaders at 11.30am.”
The 2023 World Hydropower Congress is expected to bring together more than 1,000 delegates consisting of key world leaders, leading experts from the hydro sector, finance and academics from around the world, Ukas noted.
“The conference organized by IHA will take place from Oct 31 to Nov 2 next with the theme ‘Powering Sustainable Growth’,” said the news outlet. — DayakDaily
