KUCHING, Oct 30: Yasmin Hani Hadzmi, a 19-year-old girl with autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), can stay focused on learning provided that a picture of Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg accompanies her.

The sweet girl always has Abang Johari’s photo as her (handphone) wallpaper, and she even printed the photo and placed it in a transparent file, which she left next to her pillow.

Since students cannot bring handphones to school, Hani would have an A4-sized paper with Abang Johari’s face to accompany her.

These strings of information about Hani were announced by an emcee during the Autism Awareness Seminar held in Kuching last Saturday (Oct 28).

The emcee further explained that Hani’s actions are related to her condition, especially when it affects her learning tendencies.

“Hani is a visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learner, so this explains why she needs to be accompanied by Abang Johari’s photo.

“During her classes, she would talk and ask questions, and once in a while, she would run while singing and looking at Abang Johari’s photo,” the emcee stated.

It was learnt that Hani had started to become a fan of Abang Johari when she had the opportunity to take a selfie with the leader after a Raya Aidilfitri prayer session at Masjid Jamek Kuching in 2017.

She also admired Abang Johari for having a wife (Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang) who dresses modestly.

From then on, she started to do online research on the Premier, including his family background, education history, career development, and daily activities.

When Hani was asked why she likes to look at Abang Johari’s face, she simply said she likes his smile.

The emcee also informed that Hani had always dreamt of taking another selfie with the Premier, and that dream was finally achieved when she was given the opportunity to do so after reading out the resolution to empower the autistic community in Sarawak at the function.

“Hani’s mother informs that she always hears Hani praying to God to be able to take a selfie with Abang Johari, to which we all hope that her ‘doa’ would be granted by Allah whereby may the Premier and all Muslims be placed in the highest level of heaven.

“In fact, Hani, during her visit at Raudhah, Masjid Nabawi in Saudi Arabia back in 2018, prayed for several Sarawak leaders, including Abang Johari,” the emcee added. — DayakDaily
