Premier to officiate at 60th Anniversary of S’wak Independence celebration in Limbang on May 28

KUCHING, May 22: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at the 60th Anniversary of Sarawak Independence celebration in Limbang on May 28.

According to a press statement, various activities have been lined up for the event including the Sarawak Merdeka Convoy which will see the participation of 120 high-powered motorcycles and 40 vehicles which will be flagged off by the Premier at Lawas Public Park at 10am.

On the same day, Abang Johari is also expected to officiate at the ground-breaking ceremony for Lepapa Hypermarket and Roxy Hotel in Jalan Merapok, Lawas, at 2.30pm.


There will also be a digital exhibition featuring Sarawak’s 60 years since its independence; ‘Youth Got Skill’ programme; sales of local products, food, handcrafts; a Sarawak X-tive Mega Aerobic programme; Fun Ride Sarawak X-tive; and Sarawak X-tive Pentanque competition which will be held starting 8am.

Meanwhile, on May 27, Abang Johari will be chairing the State Development Coordination Committee Meeting at Hotel Seri Malaysia in Lawas.

He will also conduct site visits to the new Lawas Bridge, Lawas Hospital and the proposed Lawas Integrated Administration Centre.

Following that, Abang Johari is expected to attend the ‘Community Dinner together with Premier of Sarawak’ event at Lawas Indoor Stadium. — DayakDaily
