KUCHING, May 22: The new Kuching South City Council (MBKS) community library situated behind the KMC Flats compound and next to the old MAA Tower at Jalan Central Timur here will be open soon.

MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said there are only some loose ends to tie up such as the purchase of electronic devices and installation of curtains before the library is ready to be used.

He said the community library was set up as a studying or leisure space for the KMC Flats community especially the children and elderly.

ā€œFor the children who cannot do their homework or study at home due to limited space, you can come here.

ā€œThe elderly are also welcome here to read newspapers or watch television while enjoying the air-conditioning,ā€ he said during a Facebook livestream when giving an update on the community library’s progress earlier today.

The community library has a common area with sofa seats, a kidsā€™ room, and an activity room equipped with a whiteboard, tables and chairs.

Its opening hours will be from 9am to 5pm on Tuesdays to Fridays, and 9am to 2.30pm on Saturdays. The library will be closed on Mondays, Sundays and public holidays. ā€” DayakDaily
