KUCHING, June 15: Approximately 1,000 participants are expected to attend a town hall session, which is to be held in conjunction with the Sarawak Day 2026 celebration at the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS), on July 22.
According to Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and Ukas), Datuk Abdullah Saidol, the programme serves as a key platform for strengthening two-way communication between the State government and the people, while providing the public with direct updates on Sarawak’s development initiatives and future direction.
Abdullah, who is also the deputy minister overseeing the programme, expressed hope for greater participation from the local community, with people from diverse age groups and backgrounds encouraged to take part to ensure the event remains inclusive and fulfils its intended objectives.
He said this during the first meeting of the Sarawak Day 2026 Townhall Organising Committee, which was held at UTS in Sibu today, as reported by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
Carrying the theme ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur’ (‘A Progressive and Prosperous Sarawak’), the programme is expected to be attended by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg,
The meeting also discussed various aspects of preparations, including logistics, participant management, publicity, and the coordination of duties among the agencies involved to ensure the successful organisation of the Sarawak Day 2026 Townhall and the achievement of its objectives. — DayakDaily
