KUCHING, Oct 10: The development of basic amenities in rural areas should be among the key priorities for the RM16.2 billion federal allocation to Sarawak under Budget 2027.
Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and Ukas) Datuk Abdullah Saidol highlighted this in welcoming the allocation under Budget 2027, which was tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Parliament on Friday (Oct 9).
He expressed hope that the funds would be disbursed in full and according to schedule, with a significant portion channelled towards improving basic infrastructure and amenities in rural communities.
“We appreciate the allocation and hope the funds will be channelled in full according to schedule.
“We also hope that a large portion of the allocation will be spent on developing basic amenities in rural areas,” he told Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) following the tabling of Budget 2027 yesterday.
Earlier, Anwar announced that Sarawak would receive RM16.2 billion in federal allocations under Budget 2027, an increase of RM1.1 billion from the RM15.1 billion allocated this year.
He said Sabah and Sarawak continued to receive the highest federal allocations, with Sabah set to receive RM18.7 billion under Budget 2027, up from RM17.6 billion this year. — DayakDaily
