KUCHING, July 10: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will be inaugurating the Sarawak Petchem Methanol Plant at Tanjung Kidurong, Bintulu on Sarawak Day (July 22).
Sarawak Day 2024 organizing chairman Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said this will be an important part of the Sarawak Day celebrations this year.
He also said Abang Johari was satisfied with all the preparations done for the occasion, but there are some changes to be made in terms of sentiment.
“We want to push Sarawak to the front as soon as possible, but we need to remember that Sarawak remains in (the Federation of) Malaysia.
“If Sarawak is advanced and prosperous, so will Malaysia too,” Dr Rundi told Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) after paying a courtesy call on Abang Johari at Wisma Bapa Malaysia on Tuesday (July 9).
For the record, the Sarawak Day celebration will include a Thanksgiving Ceremony for other religions on July 20 and a Thanksgiving Ceremony for the Muslims at Assyakirin Mosque Bintulu on July 21.
This was followed by a Fun Ride at the Bintulu Auditorium covering a distance of 15 kilometres and a townhall session at the Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus on July 22.
The highlight will be the 2024 Sarawak Day Rally at the Bintulu Old Airport site at 8pm on July 22.
On the same night, many local artists including Bob Yusuf, Melissa Francis, and Dayang Nurfaizah will perform in addition to the pantomime performances. — DayakDaily
