SIMUNJAN, May 1: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will announce a pay raise for Sarawak civil servants by middle of June this year.
He noted that Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim today has announced an more than 13 per cent salary increase for civil servantsāthe highest ever in Malaysiaās history.
āFor Sarawak, we will study the details (for salary increase for the Sarawak civil service). I have given a signal where we can maybe improve on what was being offered by the federal government.
āWe will conduct the study in a one month-and-a-halfās time considering that there will be financial implications.
āInsya-Allah, we will be able to bear the salary increase that we will announce within that period,ā he told reporters after a Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering for Simunjan District held at Dewan Mesra Simunjan here today.
Earlier today, Anwar during a function in Putrajaya, announced a salary increase of more than 13 per cent for civil servants to ensure that the minimum salary would be over RM2,000 per month. The increase will be effective Dec 1, 2024. ā DayakDaily
