KUCHING, Sept 23: Those who fought against Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the previous State election have now become supporters of the coalition, says Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Abang Johari, who is the Premier of Sarawak, GPS chairman, and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) president, said there is no need for him to disclose the party’s name because almost everybody knows about it.
“(Back then) their red flags were flying everywhere, and they went to the longhouses and ‘kampung’ (village) areas telling the locals that the Sarawak government under Abang Johari is not doing things right, and today, they ask, ‘Can we support your coalition?’
“That is why if we are honest and sincere, the truth will prevail. This is the spirit of PBB,” said Abang Johari in his speech when officiating at a special PBB Convention for the Southern Zone at Hikmah Exchange today.
On July 13, rumours have been rife that a component party of GPS, Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), will take over a local Opposition party, Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).
On July 14, following the disclosure, Abang Johari clarified that PSB is not part of the GPS coalition despite the latter’s collaboration with PDP. — DayakDaily
