KUCHING, Dec 12: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is thankful to Prime Minister Dato Sri Anwar Ibrahim for appointing Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof as the Energy Transition and Public Utilities Minister.
“Thank you to PM (Anwar) for giving (matters concerning) energy to Fadillah.
“With Sarawak’s emphasis on renewable (energy), it is fitting for Fadillah to realign energy policies to position Malaysia as (a) green hub in the region,” he said in a statement via WhatsApp tonight.
Fadillah, also Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chief whip and Deputy Prime Minister, was among the Cabinet members whose portfolio was changed in the reshuffle announced by Anwar in a press conference earlier today.
The Energy Transition and Public Utilities Ministry is a new ministry as the Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change Ministry was split into two, with the other half being the Natural Resources and Sustainability Ministry.
Prior to the reshuffle, Fadillah was the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, which Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani took over.
In addition to his new ministerial post, Fadillah will also oversee Sarawak and Sabah affairs, taking over from Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, who was the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, as Anwar also announced that there will be no more Minister for Sabah and Sarawak Affairs. — DayakDaily
