PUTRAJAYA, Dec 12: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chief whip Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof has been appointed to helm the newly created Energy Transition and Public Utilities Ministry.

Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced this during a press conference today.

Fadillah’s deputy will be Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, who was the Deputy Local Government Development Minister.

The Energy Transition and Public Utilities Ministry is a new ministry as the Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change Ministry was split into two, with the other half—the Natural Resources and Sustainability Ministry—being under Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad along with Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii as the deputy minister.

In addition to his new ministerial post, Fadillah will also oversee Sarawak and Sabah affairs, taking over from Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, who was the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, as Anwar also announced that there will be no more Minister for Sabah and Sarawak Affairs.

Fadillah also retains his position as Deputy Prime Minister.

Prior to the reshuffle, Fadillah was the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, which Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani will take over. — DayakDaily
