Premier starts Sibu morning with rakyat at Central Market

SIBU, July 11: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg brought his morning walkabout directly to the heart of Sibu today, joining traders and members of the public for breakfast at the bustling Sibu Central Market.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Abang Johari arrives at about 7.50am and sat down to enjoy Sibu’s iconic kampua mee and traditional kuih at one of the market’s food stalls.

The Premier shared the breakfast table with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, Temenggong Dato Sri Wan Hamid Edruce, Temenggong Stanley Gramong Bandar and Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau.

His presence drew warm reactions from visitors and traders, many of whom took the opportunity to greet him, exchange brief conversations and take photographs with the State leader.

Earlier, Abang Johari joined a brisk walk at Bukit Lima Nature Reserve, which began at about 6.30am.

After breakfast, he toured the Sibu Central Market and visited several stalls, where he also purchased items from local traders.

The relaxed visit highlighted the Premier’s effort to stay connected with the community while observing first-hand the daily economic activity at one of Sibu’s busiest public spaces.

Abang Johari is scheduled to officiate the Sarawakku Sayang Programme (SKS) for the Sibu Division at Dataran Tun Tuanku Haji Bujang at 10.30am today. — DayakDaily
