KUCHING, Jan 28: Sarawak’s revenue has doubled as compared to what it was four years ago, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Abang Johari said although he could not disclose the amount yet, but the figure is what has been reported as of December 2022.
“I will announce it officially sometime next week. This is beyond our expectation,” he said during the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) Chinese New Year open house held at Sibu Civic Centre streamed live via Sarawak Public Communication Unit’ (Ukas) Facebook page today.
Abang Johari explained that he was allocating funds to develop Sibu in order to transform Sibu under the Urban Renewal Plan.
Apart from that, he said, the Sarawak government is also currently in the process of identifying the right place to build a Sibu City Hall building for SMC as a landmark in Sibu.
“I hope the Deputy Premier Dato Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and SMC chairman Clarence Ting will find and have a good design of this city hall surrounded by new development in Sibu, then Sibu will become a tourist destination,” he added. —DayakDaily
