KUCHING, Aug 14: The Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund is expected to commence operation on January 1 next year, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
This follows the appointment of nine members to the Fund’s Board of Guardians led by former Federal Court Judge at the Palace of Justice, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie, as the chairman.
“Upon finalising their appointments, we target the Fund to commence in 2024, having put in place all the structural and governance frameworks.
“The (Board of Guardians) term will be three years,” he told reporters at a press conference held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.
Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak Financial Secretary Dato Sri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, and Sarawak Attorney General Dato Sri Talat Mahmood Abd Rashid. — DayakDaily
