KUCHING, Feb 16: Sarawak is not expecting much from the retabling of Budget 2023, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

In pointing this out, Abang Johari said he also hopes that the budget for Sarawak can be increased.

“But when our Members of the Parliament’s (MP) budget got cut to RM1.3 million, cannot expect much ‘lah’.

“I think the Federal government will continue the present projects that have been earmarked under the 12th Malaysia Plan,” he told a press conference streamed live via Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) Facebook today.

He was replying to a question from reporters on Sarawak’s hopes for Budget 2023 which will be retabled on Feb 24.

Meanwhile, when asked to comment on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s admitting that Sarawak, Sabah and Pulau Pinang was marginalised in terms of receiving budget allocation from previous government, Abang Johari hoped the Prime Minister will continue his dream to increase the budget allocations for the three.

“I don’t know why Pulau Pinang is included as well. Pulau Pinang says it is more developed than Sabah and Sarawak,” he said. — DayakDaily
