KUCHING, Sep 14: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has given his word to improve the Sarawak civil service’s salary scheme before his retirement.
“Before I retire as Premier, I will solve this problem because there is always a way, but of course, productivity must increase too,” he said.
He asserted that he would continue to find ways to boost Sarawak’s revenue so that all Sarawakians can benefit, especially when the cost of living is ever-increasing.
For the time being, he said he had tasked the Sarawak Secretary to assess and study the plan as all pensionable posts in the Sarawak civil service are subjected to the Public Service Department (JPA).
“So, I have to find a solution so that we are not tied up under the federal pension funds,” said Abang Johari at the 2023 Integrity Prime Mandate Council and National Integrity Conference Officiating Ceremony held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.
Among other dignitaries who were also present were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak Secretary Daruk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali. — DayakDaily
