KUCHING, April 1: Projects below RM50 million have received the green light to be implemented as ‘full packages’ by the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) in the Prime Minister’s Department, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

According to Abang Johari, this means that the projects covering from the consultant, support service and tender board, will all be done in Sarawak.

“It will start from the planning stage because it involves land acquisition,” he told a press conference after a Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Supreme Council Meeting at the party’s headquarters at Jalan Bako today.

Abang Johari said the implementation of projects below RM50 million each, would focus on education, health, and road connectivity in rural areas, among others.

“Generally, these three sectors are a lot. Just imagine, we have about RM4 billion allocated to us including these small projects,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari, who is also PBB president, said the party had approved the formation of the Unity Government Leadership Consultation Council to discuss national development with the Federal government.

He also said apart from that, the council will help to address internal problems among party members.

“So far, there is no problem. But we always have negotiation process, for example, when we want to develop projects that cost RM50 million and below,” he added. — DayakDaily
