KUCHING, Sept 24: Perinsuran Brokar Sdn Bhd, a leading insurance brokerage company in Malaysia, has been selected to insure Sarawak’s strategic assets, including Bintulu Port, to ensure comprehensive protection of the State’s vital assets.
In a TVS news report last night (Sept 23), Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said this move will not only strengthen the State’s insurance sector but also contribute to economic growth and increase the resilience of the logistics industry.
“We need to build a large asset value so that the insurance business can grow. If the asset value is small, the insurance amount is also small. Therefore, with the increase in the value of assets such as the port, the insurance business will also grow,” he said.
He said this during Perinsuran Brokar’s 50th anniversary dinner here last night.
“This port operation connects the shipping and logistics industries. Both require insurance services. When the economic base develops, the opportunity to offer insurance programs also increases,” he said.
Abang Johari also expressed his appreciation for the company’s contribution to developing the insurance sector in Malaysia.
“With the addition of assets such as oil and gas and port operations, our insurance business is growing.
“The hydrogen and ammonia industry needs protection through insurance products. For example, bulk hydrogen services require insurance to protect large asset values,” he said. — DayakDaily
