KUCHING, July 30: A nine-storey hotel will be built in Gedong, says Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Abang Johari said it would cater to the increasing number of visitors to the district, especially during events.
“I was made to understand that during the events, hotels in Serian including the homestays nearby are fully booked. This means Gedong’s future is bright,” he said during the closing ceremony for Pesta Gedong 2023 held at the Datuk Patinggi Ali hall in Gedong, today.
Apart from that, he said, a new Gedong District Office will also be constructed in the district.
He also said that at the moment, thr Sarawak government is implementing infrastructure projects such as the construction of the road between Ulu Simunjan and Gedong.
“The government is also in the process of constructing a new road between Serian and Gedong, including from Gedong to Samarahan.
“This means there is a lot of work that we are carrying out apart from the development across the river which is the area called the Isthmus.
“Hopefully, it can be implemented after being walled off within 6 months,” he added. — DayakDaily
