KUCHING, Dec 1: Getting Sarawak’s rights restored as stipulated under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) is more important than a deputy prime minister post, says Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Abang Johari said the deputy prime minister post is not the top priority because it was not in Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) agenda when coming into the 15th General Election (GE15).
“But if given the position, we will take it,” he said during the GPS Backbenchers Night held at a local hotel, here today.
Abang Johari pointed out that what Sarawak want is its right because that is what GPS is fighting for.
He also requested new prime minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim to fulfill what is written in MA63 as well as in the Inter-Governmental CommitteebReport (IGC).
Abang Johari said by fulfilling the request, it will enable GPS to govern Sarawak better.
“As the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem said ‘Orang Sarawak jak tauk hal Sarawak’ (only Sarawakians understand Sarawak matters),” he added. — DayakDaily
