“That is the culture we have. Regardless of ethnic or religious background, we all get along.

“That is Sarawak’s identity,” he was quoted as saying in the news report.

Abang Johari made the remarks when speaking at the Hopoh Semalaysia Festival 2024 event last night (April 27) at a hotel here.

He also said that close cooperation among all parties is required for Sarawak to progress towards the goal of becoming a developed region by 2030.

“For Sarawak to achieve this target, we want all communities to work together, regardless of Malay, Chinese, Iban or Orang Ulu—all must be united,” he added.

The Premier further explained that Sarawak is transitioning to a new economic era, such as the green economy, as well as new technology, such as semiconductors, in order to strengthen its position.

“If Sarawak is strong, then Malaysia will also be strong.”

TVS reported that the Hopoh Semalaysia Festival 2024 event is an important annual event for the Hopoh community in Malaysia.

Sarawak Hopoh Association organised this year’s event, which was attended by members from all over Malaysia, as well as Singapore and Brunei.
