Premier leads 650m walk from Kuching Waterfront to Sarawak DUN for month-long National Day celebration

KUCHING, Aug 13: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg led a 650m walk from Kuching Waterfront to State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex via the Darul Hana Bridge today.

The ‘Berjalan Teguh Bersama Keluarga Malaysia’ event was joined by about 100 participants and held in conjunction with the launch of the Sarawak-level National Day month-long celebrations and Flying Jalur Gemilang 2022.

Amongst those present were Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian; DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk John Sikie Tayai; Sarawak Federal Secretary Dato Amir Omar; State Secretary Dato Sri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and Sarawak Information Department (JaPen) director Jaafar Jantan.

Apart from the walk, main activities included the the flag-off of the Malaysian Family Merdeka Adventure Convoy (KMKM2022) and the handing over of the Jalur Gemilang flag.

The convoy involved participation from JaPen Sarawak, agencies under Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM), Federal and State government agencies, strategic partners of JaPen Sarawak and representatives of the Malaysian Family Community.

The KMKM2022 convoy started from KM0.00, Telok Melano on Aug 10 and will continue their journey to Lawas with a travel distance of approximately 4,025km.

The convoy will end their journey in Betong on Aug 31 in conjunction with the Sarawak-level National Day 2022 celebration.

Members of the public can also express their patriotism through social media platforms by sharing photos related to national activities while including the hashtag (#) #KeluargaMalaysiaTeguhBersama #TeguhBersama #KeluargaMalaysia #KKOMM #HKHK2022 #Merdeka360 on their respective social media pages.

In addition, various interesting programmes with elements of nationalism will also be organised throughout the month such as the Klik@Merdeka Competition, Bintang Patriotik Smule, Bintang Patriotik Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia, Bintang Patriotik RIUH, MYDOODLE@Merdeka Coloring and Drawing, National Storytelling, ILHAM Merdeka Tik Tok Challenge and Merdeka Poetry Competition. — DayakDaily
