KUCHING, Sept 2: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will build a shield to protect Sarawak, said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Abang Johari, who is GPS chairman, pointed out that with the current situation that is happening in the Peninsula, which is bickering about who can go to hell and who can go to heaven, Sarawak must be protected from such culture.
“It is as if the power (to decide) is on them. It is with God, and GPS will build the shield to protect Sarawak,” he said during the closing ceremony of the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Special Convention 2023 held in conjunction with 60 years of Sarawak’s independence at SUPP headquarters here today.
Apart from that, Abang Johari also disclosed that he will announce a new energy law in November.
He said that the new law is to protect Sarawak’s interest in new economic approaches, especially in green energy.
He also emphasised the need to protect the environment because it is the new source of income from Sarawak.
“We have solar power, water, and wind. It is a complete source of power, and that is our asset. When we have all this, what is important is for us to be united and use this strength to serve the people of Sarawak irrespective of race and religious background.
“We are very fortunate that we have this cohesive relationship among (the different) ethnic races and religions (which) is not an issue here,” he added. — DayakDaily
