KUCHING, March 14: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg envisions the establishment of a fully integrated travel system aimed at enhancing visitors’ experience in the State.

He shared his vision with the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) for the upcoming AirBorneo airline to leverage digitalisation and provide a hassle-free journey for tourists from their departure point to their final destination in Sarawak.

“For instance, if a traveller from Frankfurt, Germany, purchases a ticket, that ticket will cover all segments of the journey.

“From leaving their home to the Frankfurt Airport, flying to Kuching, taking the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART), and checking into their hotel — all in one go.

“If we can achieve this, I think we will be the first to offer this kind of integrated package,” he said in his speech during a function held at a local hotel here today. A recording of his speech was shared with DayakDaily after the function.

The Premier also expressed optimism that the initiative would be successfully developed, as groundwork for the project has already started.

He urged Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd, the agency responsible for the ART system, to expedite the project’s delivery. — DayakDaily
