KUCHING, Aug 3: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has declined all advertisements in newspapers to celebrate his 72nd birthday on Aug 4 in view of the current tough economic situation.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Premier of Sarawak, Abang Johari noted that friends and well-wishers have expressed their intention to place advertisements in newspapers to congratulate him on the occasion of his birthday on Aug 4.
While the Premier appreciates their well-intention, he however would not like them to spend to place such advertisements in view of the current tough economic situation and the need to contain inflationary pressure.
Nevertheless, Abang Johari thanked all well-wishers for their kind thoughts of him on his 72nd birthday. — DayakDaily
