KUCHING, Aug 13: A three-star hotel will be constructed in Belawai, as will a golf course in Tanjung Manis, to attract both tourists and locals to these areas, said Abang Johari.
The Premier of Sarawak stated this during his speech when officiating at the Tanjung Manis Fishing Safari 2023 closing ceremony in conjunction with Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation’s (STIDC) Golden Jubilee anniversary celebration broadcast live by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) on Facebook today.
“I consulted with Datu Len (Sarawak Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh) about how we should plan our development to entice foreigners to visit Tanjung Manis, particularly Belawai.
“We will develop a three-star hotel in Belawai because Belawai is not far from Tanjung Manis, and this infrastructure will benefit the whole area, including the local community in Kampung Jerijeh.
“Tanjung Manis and Belawai both have beautiful beachfront locations. It’s also extremely windy. Those who do not fish can come to Tanjung Manis to play golf, as we are developing a course here,” he added, noting that most Koreans are avid golfers and can visit the area to golf.
Abang Johari continued, “So these are the development plans we will implement. The hotel in Belawai, the golf course in Tanjung Manis, and other infrastructure in the area have been included in the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMK-12). At the same time, we take care of the environment. This is what will entice people to come here.”
Also present were Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Sarawak Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh, who is also STIDC Board of Directors member; Sarawak Federal Secretary Ahmad Nazri Mohd Hassan; Tanjung Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab; Mukah Resident Kueh Lei Poh; STIDC general manager Zainal Abidin Abdullah; and STIDC advisor Datu Hashim Bojet. — DayakDaily
