MIRI, Jan 15: Three upgrading and road extension projects for three schools within the Senadin constituency have been approved by the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg this year to help improve the schools’ facilities and reduce traffic congestion.
According to Minister for Transport Sarawak Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, also Senadin assemblyman, the schools are SMK Merbau, SMK Pujut, and SK Senadin.
When met during a site visit at SMK Merbau for the proposed roadside extension today, he said the project at SMK Merbau will commence sometime in April and is expected to be completed by June.
He added the extension would include the construction of four waiting sheds and a shaded motorcycle parking space.
“We also plan to install two zebras crossing in front of the school’s entrance and construct a 24-metre-long anti-climbing fence along the Jalan Desa Pujut Utama,” he said.
SMK Merbau has 3,200 students, making it the second school in Sarawak with the most students after SMK Bintulu. — DayakDaily
