KUCHING, Feb 1: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will be heading to Singapore on Feb 10 to present a public lecture on Sarawak’s economic development at Singapore’s ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute (ISEAS).
The Premier shared this while delivering his speech at the Annual Chinese New Year Gathering 2025 for the United Chinese Association Sibu Division (UCA Sibu) in Sibu today.
At the public lecture, entitled ‘Envisioning a Low-Carbon Future: Sarawak’s Journey towards Sustainable Development’, the Premier will share insights into Sarawak’s bold vision and strategic initiatives for a sustainable, low-carbon future.
He will be discussing Sarawak’s innovative approach to balancing rapid economic growth with environmental responsibility, highlighting key areas such as renewable energy development, decarbonisation efforts, green transportation, urban planning, and forest management.
Aside from that, Abang Johari will also elaborate on Sarawak’s ambitious decarbonisation goals and the state’s comprehensive strategy to achieve them.
This event offers a valuable opportunity to understand how Sarawak’s journey towards sustainability and carbon neutrality can serve as a model for development in the region and beyond. – DayakDaily
