KUCHING, Sept 14: Sincerity, compliance and accountability are the three most important elements of integrity in civil servants, opined Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
According to Abang Johari, firstlyPremier: Sincerity, compliance, accountability are 3 most important elements of integrity, one is to to serve sincerely without expecting (worldly) rewards.
“This is followed by laws and procedures is also a crucial framework for governance which lead to the second elements; that is compliance, where we must both support and obey the spirit of the law as well as rule.
“The third important elements is in my opinion, is our accountability to those who put us (where we are) and also importantly, our responsibility to God.
“If we have these three things, we are on the right path,” he said during the 2023 Integrity Prime Mandate Council and National Integrity Conference Officiating Ceremony held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.
Abang Johari said the question of governance is very important because it is based on rules.
“You have to govern based on rules and law, and then you have to observed. Malaysia has it own rules and way, based on the cultural background that we have, and the laws that we accept is a guidance for us to serve the country and its people,” he added. — DayakDaily
