KUCHING, March 6: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg joined civil servants at the Atrium of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) tonight for a special iftar event.

The event, held in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan, aimed to strengthen unity and camaraderie among the State’s administration and its workforce.

The Premier arrived at the venue to a warm welcome from government officials and civil servants.

As the call to Maghrib prayer echoed through the Atrium, attendees broke their fast together with dates and water before enjoying a spread of traditional Ramadan delicacies.

Following the breaking of fast, Abang Johari led the congregation in performing Maghrib prayers, followed by Isyak and Tarawih prayers.

Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah; Minister of Transport (MOTS) Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin; Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi who is also in charge of Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) and Islamic Affairs; and Deputy Minister of Transport (Aviation and Roads) Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.

As part of the evening’s programme, Datin Amar Enn Ong, wife of Deputy Premier Dr Sim Kui Hian, presented assistance on behalf of the Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (Maksak) Women Sarawak to members of the asnaf group, consisting of individuals in need of financial and social support. — DayakDaily
