ABU DHABI, Nov 4: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) today, to begin a four-day official working visit from Nov 4 to 7.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), a special aircraft carrying Abang Johari and his delegation from the Sarawak government landed at Zayed International Airport around 1.50pm local time. They were greeted by Malaysia’s Ambassador to the UAE, Tengku Dato’ Sirajuzzaman Tengku Mohamed Ariffin.
Joining Abang Johari on this visit are Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Minister of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, and Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESty) Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.

The Premier’s official agenda will commence on Tuesday (Nov 5) with a visit to Masdar City, a fully solar-powered urban development located about 30 kilometres (km) from Abu Dhabi.
He will then witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Sarawak Energy Berhad, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (PSJC), and Gentari Sdn Bhd. This strategic collaboration aims to explore the potential for developing the world’s largest floating photovoltaic (PV) solar project, with a capacity of up to one gigawatt, at the Murum Dam.
On Wednesday (Nov 6), the Premier is set to attend the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) 2024 at the ADNEC Centre. He will also participate in a panel discussion on Asia’s Role in Shaping the Hydrogen Market alongside other distinguished speakers.
In the afternoon, the Premier will witness the signing of an agreement between Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) and Mubadala Energy. This agreement will see Mubadala Energy supporting conservation, protection, regeneration, and biodiversity enhancement efforts.
Additionally, the collaboration will establish a framework for both parties to explore opportunities in SFC-managed areas, including mangrove conservation at Kuching Wetland National Park and the identification of other potential conservation projects.
The Premier will wrap up his official itinerary with a meeting with Mubadala Energy’s executive team, led by CEO and Managing Director Sheikh Mansoor Mohamed Al Hamed. The discussions will focus on the Sarawak Gas Roadmap and potential investment opportunities for Mubadala Energy in Sarawak.
