Practice love and forgiveness in roles as politicians — Masing

KUCHING, Dec 6: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing advised party members to continue providing assistance to those in need and always emphasise on the value of forgiveness in order to ensure the party’s growth and unity.

According to Masing, as politicians and public leaders, their actions were always subject to criticism and scrutiny, although done with the best intention. As such, he counselled patience and perseverance in the face of negative feedback.

“Because good politicians learn to give their time to those who need their counsel; share their resources with those in need; and forgive those who have done them wrong,” said Masing in his speech during the PRS Pre Christmas Dinner yesterday.

Masing also noted that in order to be good politicians, they also had to be good Christians.  He said the teachings of Christ on love and forgiveness, were the basic fundamentals any good public servant had to put into practice as they served their constituents.

“In order to keep our party intact and hopefully will grow, we forgive those who have done us wrong.

“Consciously or unconsciously you have been under the good guidance of Christ even if you walk in the Valley of Death, Christ the Lord will be your shepherd and he will keep you from harm, as he did for me in my trying days,” he added.

During the dinner, Masing also encouraged party members to continue serving the people as they have done.—DayakDaily.
