KUCHING, Aug 3: Police have confirmed that a post-mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death of the 44-year-old man who was found dead today after going missing while foraging for vegetables near Jalan Miri Bypass.
Miri District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the man’s body was discovered at about 3.34pm on Aug 3 by government personnel involved in the search and rescue (SAR) operation.
A medical officer from Miri Hospital later confirmed the victim had died at the scene.
“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
“The case is currently being investigated as a sudden death,” he said in a statement today.
The man was earlier reported missing on Aug 1, prompting a multi-agency SAR operation around the forested area where he was last seen.
Farhan also advised the public not to speculate on the case out of respect for the deceased’s family and to allow the investigation to proceed without interference.
