A police officer was among 25 motorcyclists arrested for riding motorcycles from Simunjan Market towards Kampung Nanas in violation of the CMCO.

SIMUNJAN, May 27: Police arrested a group of 25 men including one of their own riding motorcycles from Simunjan Market towards Kampung Nanas yesterday.

State deputy police commissioner Datuk Dev Kumar disclosed police personnel were conducting Conditional Movement Control Order (cmco) monitoring and surveillance around the area when they spotted the group at Kilometer 1, Jalan Tun Openg, Simunjan at about 2pm.

“Upon questioning, all of the 25 men were found to be from Samarahan and they failed to provide a reasonable excuse to enter Simunjan area without police permits.

“All of them claimed they needed to travel by motorcycle from Kota Samarahan to Simunjan because they had not ridden for a long time,” Dev revealed in a statement.

The men were arrested and taken to Simunjan police station for committing offences under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020.

Dev also confirmed that one of those arrested was a policeman with the Samarahan district police force. — DayakDaily
