Man persuaded to leave locked smoke-filled room, rushed to hospital

SAMARAHAN, May 27: A 56-year-old man was rushed to Kota Samarahan Heart Centre for medical treatment after he was persuaded to leave a room filled with smoke yesterday.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, they received an emergency call at 4.50pm and despatched a team of 10 firefighters to a commercial shoplot at Jalan Dato Mohamad Musa.

Upon arrival, commanding officer Ebby Hirwandy was informed that there were two adults, one male and one female foreigner, in the room and they were burning boxes inside.


The door was locked from the inside.

Eventually firefighters and police managed to persuade the man to the open the door, and thereafter sucessfully put out the fire.

“The victim was immediately taken to Kota Samarahan Heart Centre by a team from Civil Defense Force (APM). The foreign woman, who was in the room with him, was taken to Kota Samarahan police station for investigation,” Ebby disclosed. — DayakDaily
